As a Senior Oracle Database Automation Engineer you'll:

• Solve Complex Problems with a Software Engineering Mindset: Leverage your expertise in backend programming and passion for databases, particularly Oracle, to design and implement innovative solutions for database automation and management.
• Develop and Enhance Automation Tools: Build and improve automation for Oracle Database Administration (DBA) tasks, such as provisioning databases, patching, database refreshes (PROD to NON-PROD), account creation, and authorization workflows.
• Design and Manage a Scalable DBaaS Platform: Collaborate with a team of engineers to architect, implement, and maintain a secure, scalable, and reliable cloud-based Database as a Service (DBaaS) platform for Oracle databases.
• Automate Manual DBA Operations: Identify manual or semi-automated Oracle DBA tasks and transform them into fully automated workflows, incorporating observability features like monitoring and alerting.
• Implement Advanced Oracle Configurations: Set up and configure Oracle databases with advanced features such as Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Guard, and Oracle ASM.
• Modernize and Support Oracle GoldenGate: Install, upgrade, and support Oracle GoldenGate using Microservices architecture while maintaining existing GoldenGate operations for database replication and integration across Oracle and heterogeneous databases.
• Optimize Database Performance: Perform performance tuning using Oracle Data Dictionary views, PL/SQL packages, AWR reports, and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
• Build Self-Service Data Replication Platforms: Create fully automated, self-service platforms for data replication between Oracle databases and heterogeneous databases using Oracle GoldenGate Microservices.
• Ensure Data Protection and Recovery: Execute database backup and recovery tasks, including physical and logical methods, and manage PROD to NON-PROD database refreshes.
• Proactively Monitor and Maintain Databases: Monitor database alerts, performance, space utilization, and backup jobs, taking preventive actions to avoid production issues.
• Provide On-Call and After-Hours Support: Participate in on-call rotations and provide after-hours support for production databases as needed.
• Collaborate with Development Teams: Support application development teams during production deployments and assist with root cause analysis (RCA) for database-related issues, driving long-term solutions.
• Follow Change Management Processes: Adhere to IT change management protocols and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
• Engage with Oracle Support and Cross-Functional Teams: Work with Oracle Support to resolve critical issues and collaborate with teams in Platform Engineering, Information Security, Networking, and Storage to articulate and advocate for database requirements.
• Address Security Vulnerabilities: Prioritize and resolve database and server-related security vulnerabilities promptly.

Who You Are:

• Experienced Oracle DBA with Automation Expertise: You have at least 5 years of experience as an Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) on Unix/Linux systems, with at least 2 years of experience building automation solutions using tools like Terraform, Ansible, Python, and Linux shell scripting.
• Proficient in Advanced Oracle Features: You have strong experience with Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Guard, Oracle ASM, and Oracle GoldenGate.
• Cloud Database Management Skills: You have at least 2 years of experience managing databases in cloud environments.
• Performance Tuning and Backup Expertise: You excel in Oracle database performance tuning, backup and recovery, and Oracle Data Pump export/import.
• Multitenant Architecture Knowledge: You have strong experience with Oracle's Multitenant architecture (CDB/PDB).
• Version Control and CI/CD Familiarity: You have experience with version control systems and understand their role in software configuration management and CI/CD pipelines.
• SQL and API Development Skills: You have expertise in Oracle SQL query tuning and experience with microservices-oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs.
• Strong Communicator and Team Player: You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, are punctual, and consistently meet deadlines.

It’s a Plus if you have:

• Experience with Other Databases: Familiarity with PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, or MySQL is a plus.
• Oracle Exadata Expertise: Experience with Oracle Database Administration on Oracle Exadata is highly desirable.
• OEM Installation and Maintenance: Knowledge of installing and maintaining Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) 13c servers and agents is a valuable asset.
