Our team builds and maintains scalable, internally sourced tools and guidance that help partners build consistent experiences faster. We work to free up design and engineering time by providing a foundation from which to build consumer and enterprise experiences—allowing them to focus on delivering value and consistent experiences to our customers and partners. 

Role Description 

In this role, you will help lead the strategy and delivery for design systems at H-E-B and drive alignment with cross-discipline teams to help shape the design system. You will have the opportunity to mentor product designers and act as a strong cross-functional advocate on the team.  

You'll collaborate with peer Design Systems Designers, Content Designers, Researchers, Project/Product Managers (PMs) and Engineers to determine strategy and roadmaps, deciding what matters most and how we prioritize the work. 

We are looking for: 

• 5+ Years of experience or relevant and transferable skills preferred 
• Ability to perform a range of complex and ambiguous design tasks 
• Wide subject matter expertise on multiple features, workflows, and new areas of discovery for a project's domain, related domains, or across project 
• A team expert, who sets examples on how design operates at H-E-B, and help shape design standards and processes across Product & Design Team. 
• Growing influence on strategy and vision in a product area

• Contributes to design goals that impact projects or initiatives, across-teams and stakeholders 
• Helps define requirements and works closely with product and engineering counterparts 
• Makes smart trade-offs for design decisions that balance quality, speed of delivery, and learning  
• Refines and defines new design and development handoff processes and documentation 
• Facilitates discussions within a multidisciplinary team, with potentially difficult dynamics 
• Engages in the practices and processes for healthy, productive collaboration that drives outcomes - Adapt design approaches as needed  
• Interaction and visual design craft skills and information architecture  
• Works on end-to-end experiences 
• Organizes complex systems and experiences through user-centered information architecture 
• Designs simple and elegant interfaces for complex systems or multiple platforms  
• Designs with a high level of polish  
• Creates design principles 
• Creates complex prototypes  
• Consistently contributes to visual frameworks or creates new frameworks and style guides 
• Communicates rationalization using heuristics, psychology, influence tactics 
• Creates complex journey maps, storyboards, and service blueprints  
• Runs service design workshops 
• Provides mentorship to more junior designers through pair design
