Responsibilities

H-E-B Design Partners are leading-edge innovators in retail and industrial facility design, construction, and maintenance. Design Partners on our Facility Alliance and Industrial Properties teams are dedicated to designing and delivering integrated, highly creative, and innovative environments crafted to maximize H-E-B's brand commitment.

As a Facility Designer, you'll design solutions that are creative, impactful, and influence the character of the H-E-B Band and our retail / industrial environments. You'll collaborate with internal and external design teams to ensure they are delivering on-time, quality documents that meet H-E-B design criteria and budget.

We are looking for:
- a bachelor's degree in architecture or equivalent
- 4+ years of experience

What is the work?
Design & Development:
- Develops complex schematic fixture plan designs and layouts for design development, either manual or computer-generated; produces manual and electronic presentation drawings
- Creates highly detailed, complete, and accurate two-dimensional plans
- Calculates / prepares square footage calculation and analysis of Store plans
- Develops full plans, including building positioning, parking, and general site development
- Manages a defined information program to create design solutions
- Applies branded concepts to create designed environments, including exhibiting proper use of graphics, color, form, scale, and texture that enhance the experience in our Stores and facilities

Project Management:
- Manages projects from conception through completion, while effectively communicating with consultants; manages overall timelines and milestones for multiple projects; processes change requests
- Applies understanding of codes; performs code research and assessment, including ADA, sanitation and building codes, and environmental regulations
- Makes project site visits; recognizes, documents, and resolves design issues for compliance with design intent and construction documents
- Researches / provides assessment of building materials applications
- Prepares / manages documentation for hand off to consultants, including equipment specifications, floor plans, building detail, site, and exterior elevations
- Applies understanding of project schedules and work processes; manages to a schedule / deadline
- Proactively pursues cost savings

What is your background?
- Bachelor's degree in architecture or equivalent from an accredited university
- 4+ years of design experience in the built industry

Do you have what it takes to be a fit as an H-E-B Facility Designer?
- Strong knowledge of building systems and their coordination / integration (structural, architectural, MEPR), building codes, environmental regulations, handicap accessibility codes, sanitation concerns / regulations, and direct application of such
- Strong knowledge of the dynamics / application of site and landscape design, appropriate materials use and methods of construction, and specifications and criteria development
- Proficiency in graphic design and the use of color, form, scale, and texture
- Computer application / software skills, including MS Office, AutoCAD, Revit
- Project management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift focus between projects
- Ability to use 2D and 3D presentation graphics
