As a Manager of Engineering, you will raise up your team, helping develop individual careers and achieving goals, spotting, and addressing common team problems, and coaching and mentoring those identified for potential company leadership. You will work closely with stakeholders from product and design, and other engineering leaders, to provide high-quality, repeatable technology delivery for the digital engineering organization. You will provide leadership across all aspects of development to maintain a high bar for technology, people, and process.

 

What You'll Do (Management, Design & Development)

  • Manage a high caliber team of 5-7 software engineers by providing guidance through coaching, setting goals and priorities, and contributing through hands-on software development tasks
  • Responsible for SDLC and ownership of platform APIs and managed tooling offerings.
  • Foster a culture that promotes innovation, creativity, and collaboration, encouraging continuous learning, experimentation, and growth.
  • Cultivate open and honest communication through radical candor, ensuring constructive feedback, transparency, ownership, and accountability.
  • Create and execute technical roadmaps. Build and deliver high-impact platform engineering initiatives spanning multiple systems with focus on improving developer experiences.
  • Publish detailed and easily accessible documentation for technical users and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Coordinate production support response on critical production incidents.
  • Work with third party vendors and technical contacts
  • Execute all HR functions including performance assessment, career advancement, expenditure management, and time-off administration.

Who you are 

  • You worked at least for 3 years as Software Engineering Manager of a team of high-caliber software engineers
  • You worked at least for 9 years as a Software Engineer with expertise in designing and building large scale distributed systems
  • You have hands-on coding and debugging skills in Go, Python, Java, Bash, and Terraform
  • You have deep knowledge of Kubernetes and containerization technologies, in addition to Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Crossplane, Argo tools, Networking, Security, and Infrastructure Design
  • You have expertise building and running secure, reliable, and resilient software systems
